BHI's PBS Documentary on Hearing Loss Airs More Than 1100 Times First 3 Months

March 29, 2007

With 45% of stations reporting to a survey by A.C. Nielsen the Better Hearing Institute's documentary Spotlight on Hearing loss has the following confirmed showings its first 3 months of airing:

  • 146 of 348 stations showed it at least once
  • 1,108 total airings
  • 5,200,000 audience size (audience known in only 90% of markets)

This audit represents the combined first 3 months audit of BHI's 9.5 minute documentary September-November 2006 and the 6.5 minute documentary for the period December 2006-February 2007. The shorter documentary represented 82% of the total airings.

Some of the notable markets in which the documentary has aired are as follows: Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Detroit, Orlando, Palm Beach, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Providence, Nashville, Louisville, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Dayton, Richmond, Tulsa, Charlotte, Hartford and Little Rock.

While the documentary should have a shelf life well in excess of a year, if you are a hearing health professional and your local PBS station has not yet shown the documentary you might consider contacting them to show this interstitial filler educational program as a public service.

The documentary is now available for viewing and download (in multiple resolutions and formats) from the front page of the BHI website. In addition it is now available in home DVD format for those who want to use the documentary as a video brochure. To order go to the following link: http://old.betterhearing.org/professionals/
